Giiwe : Returning Home

“Giiwe: Returning Home” is a 42 min documentary that explores the complex attitudes and emotions that come with being displaced from one’s reservation. Through talking with relatives, friends and community members, Taye Alvis will explore his relationship to Walpole Island and how one can reconnect to their traditions and culture by way of conversation, arts and recreation. Through this film, we hope to shed some light on an Indigenous experience that is both universal and underrepresented in our current media landscape.
